Synopsis:

The protagonist of the story is Father Innocenzo, a 39 years old monk who observes an austere lifestyle. The transfer of the pastor of the country entails for the monk new commitments (celebrations of the masses, houses blessing, confessions of the faithful, church maintenance), which distract him from his rarefied solitude, with his great disappointment. The monk finds himself face to face with the complexity of community life, which he had carefully avoided (including family members), but he can no longer avoid it. It will become more and more aware of it's inadequacy, until the will to commit suicide of a relative upsets him to the point of definitively destroy all his certainty. This will lead him to a radical redefinition of his identity as a man and a man of faith, while still firmly remaining within his choice of a life devoted to faith.
