Synopsis:
No German review yet:
De Broers Van Bommel: The Van Bommel Brothers tells the story of Kamiel, a 30 year old farmer's son, as he tries to escape the misery of his wretched existence. With no father figure around, Kamiel has to take on the responsibility of both the estate as well as his degenerate family. When Bertha passes away, freedom beckons. The Van Bommel Brothers explores the poignant confrontation between free will and loyalty. Drôle d'Oiseau: The film is a portrait of a man with bipolar disorder painted through the eyes of his 11 year old daughter. The picture turns into a bittersweet adventure with two un-conventional heroes on a path of innocence and crude behavior. Empire: Late afternoon, somewhere in a big city, a man comes home to his wife and child - a portrait of a family in our modern civilization, captured in real time. Feel Sad for the Bunny: The relationship between 12-year-old Remy and his older brother Bruno is put to the test when both develop an interest in their au pair, Michaela. Nkosi coiffure: Fighting with her boyfriend on the street in Brussels' Congolese neighbourhood, Eva escapes into an afro hair salon. The women in the salon initially support her, seeing a woman in distress. But when we find out what the fight was about, opinions differ. Allegory of the Jam Jar: Hans is a 50-year old businessman. He has a challenging job, a wonderful collection of ties and a pristine apartment. One day, when a crack appears on the perfect walls of his home, Hans slowly starts losing control of his seemingly perfect life. Shadow: To escape IS jihadis, a Yazidi mother and her two daughters hide in a cave on Mount Sinjar. The film depicts their daily struggle to survive. Umpire: Axelle, a young, promising tennis player is left in increasing desperation when she learns that Jeremy, her attentive coach, remains detained for further questioning. Once: ''Weleer/Once' tells the the rise and fall of an entire cardboard society. It's about construction from scratch, nostalgia for 'village life' and the intrigues between villagers during a time of crisis. After a man wakes up in an entirely empty world, he soon finds a piece of cardboard. Gradually the man starts to build his cardboard village, looking for the ideal society. When more villagers start to appear, the empty world gets a civilized character. After days of hard labor the cardboard village finally is ready. The villagers gather and soon a big party is organized. Although most people are satisfied and enjoy their life in this new environment, you can still feel the darkness overshadowing the peaceful village... . When more and more economic problems rise, the existence of the village is at stake.
