Synopsis:
Nadine Ship, a late 20's small town bank teller is stuck. Stuck at a job that's comfortable, but not very challenging. Stuck in a relationship of five years that's comfortable, but not very passionate. Stuck on the traditional path towards adulthood. But when Nadine is taken hostage in a dramatic bank heist gone wrong, her ordered life explodes in confusion. When her abductor unmasks, she recognizes him as Tass Richards, an unassuming local mechanic. He asks her to take a chance and make a choice, to help him in his cause, and become his willing hostage for a few days. Her answer leads her down a very different path than the one she originally was on.... A path towards self-expression, a lot of passion and self-enlightenment. A tale of an 'ordinary' person in an extraordinary situation.

This Canadian film is director Mina Shum's second feature. Nadine (Moira Kelly) is on her first day at a new job, working in a bank, when there's a holdup. But the job also brings about a romance with co-worker Jonathan (Sebastian Spence). Five years later, the romance has gone sour, and Nadine is attracted to a newcomer in town, Tass (Josh Hamilton). When Tass robs the bank, Nadine is abducted. With the cops and Jonathan in pursuit, they skip town, heading for China City so Tass can visit his hospitalized mother. Moira Kelly provides the voiceover narration. Shum shot in British Columbia. The title is a reference to Drive He Said, directed by Jack Nicholson in 1970. Shown at 1997 film festivals (Toronto, Vancouver).
