Synopsis:

Set in the heart of Madrid, Malas temporadas (Hard Times) is the story of Mikel, Ana and Carlos, people who end up becoming intertwined while they search for their place in the world. A place that keeps getting further from their ideals and ends up disappearing. The only solution left for them is starting from what they have, from what is real, and begin building from there. People whose fate has led them down unforeseen roads, and who now share the need to reconsider the options still open to them..

In the heart of Madrid, Mikel, Ana and Carlos, are searching for their place in the world, a place increasingly more distant from the one they had imagined, leaving them the only solution of starting to try and achieve it based on reality. They are people that fate has finally led along unexpected paths. Ana works for an NGO that helps refugees. Carlos, an exiled Cuban who earns his life illegally dealing in cigars, was a pilot in Cuba and Ana?s last boyfriend, although now they're only friends. Just out of prison, Mikel is obsessed with the idea of finding his former cellmate. The lives of Ana, Carlos and Mikel increasingly interweave. Although they all have to deal with their own problems and take their own decisions, they all influence and help each other.
