Synopsis:

Updating of Henrik Ibsen's play. Tomas Stockman is well-known on television for consumer interests and exposing corporate scandals. When his producers try to tinker with his programmes' style and content he decides to leave and return to his hometown, and with his brother Peter, take charge of a bottling plant for the area's mineral water. His wife Katrine is reluctant, however, as she has unresolved issues with her father who lives in the area. Things also start to go awry when Tomas receives analyses of the water from the laboratory which indicates toxins. Peter and the locals want him to keep quiet to protect their livelihoods, but Tomas refuses.
