Synopsis:
After being involved in a gas-station hold-up during which the attendant is shot and killed, Samba Traore flees to his native village with a suitcase of money. He tells the other villagers he has earned the money but they remain suspicious. Samba meets and marries Saratou and spends money on building a large house for themselves as well as a bar for the village, which he intends to run, together with his childhood friend Salif. Things go quite well for him until Saratou falls ill in pregnancy and Samba is too frightened of running into the law to take her to the hospital in town.

Samba Traore returns to his village flush with funds. Soon enough he manages to charm the beautiful Saratou into marrying him and, along with another friend, builds the first bar their village has ever seen. But his conscience keeps nagging him and the police are on the lookout for the 'gas station murderer.'
