Synopsis:
Dutch director Frans Weisz returns to the tale of a splintered and reunited family of Holocaust-surviving Dutch Jews in this sequel to his 1989 film Leedvermaak entitled Qui Vive. The family of patriarch Simon (Peter Oosthoek) and his second wife, Ada (Kitty Courbois), are gathering in honor of the couple's 40th wedding anniversary. Simon's daughter, Lea (Catherine ten Bruggencate), and her husband, Nico (Pierre Bokma) -- the couple that ultimately wed in Leedvermaak -- are encountering a rough time in their marriage. Nico is still dealing with his experiences during the Holocaust and blames his father, Zwart (Rijk de Gooyer), for the deaths of his mother and sister. As a result, Nico has begun questioning many aspects of his life and decides to resign his executive position at the local hospital. Meanwhile, Lea has discovered that Nico's first wife, Dory (Marjon Brandsma), is pregnant and refuses to reveal who the father is.
