Synopsis:
Virgil, the title character once was a boxer, like his father, now in jail. He visits him on a weekly basis, incessantly talking about his latest victories, while discreetly watching Margot, who tries to speak to her own silent father. When Ernest, Virgil's dad, is told he will be released in a few months, his son isn't overenthusiasted. Indeed, he hasn't boxed in three years, that is, since Ernest has been incarcerated. This isn't so much an elevating story about surpassing himself to get back on the ring and get the girl, but more about why he absolutely needs to pursue this goal that is not his own, sort out his relationship with his father in a way.
