Synopsis:
The Sentinel (1992)
After spending some time with his diplomat father in Germany, a young French medical student returns by train to Paris to resume his studies. He is puzzled by the harsh treatment he receives from customs at the border but doesn't begin to understand why until he gets home and discovers a mummified head in his luggage. He suspects that someone at customs put it there, but is not sure. Instead of reporting the meandering body part, he decides to investigate it using the tools he has as a medical student. It appears to be the head of a Russian who died somewhere in Asia.
The Life of the Dead (1991)
A young woman and her extended family convene in a provincial village where her cousin, after attempting suicide, lies in a coma.

The Sentinel (1992)
Mathias, whose dead father was a diplomat in Germany, decides to study the forensic medicine in Paris. In the train, he has some troubles with the border police, and is insulted and threatened by a strange man, who disappeared quickly. Next day, he discovers in his luggage a shrunken human head. He soon becomes fascinated by it, feeling responsible (sentry of the memory of the head's owner) and starts his own investigation. What will leads him to cope with French secret services.
The Life of the Dead (1991)
After the attempted suicide of their adoptive brother Patrick, family members converge on the MacGillis household to mount a death-watch, amongst them cousin Bob and his hopelessly out of place girlfriend Laurence. An earlier private conversation between Christian and his sister Pascale reveals their knowledge, concealed from other family members, of Patrick's previous suicide attempt. They begin to deliberate if they should now divulge this information to their parents who have been overcome by a sense of impotence and failure over the incident. The MacGillis children alternately disparage and flirt with Laurence, smoke pot, discuss the real motivation behind Patrick's suicide beyond the sanitized 'official' family explanation, play practical jokes, and even attempt to cope with the personal crisis of a possible unexpected pregnancy.
