Synopsis:
Freedom-Oléron (2001)

A father who is determined to enjoy his vacation even if it kills him hits the high seas -- and the high seas hit back -- in this comedy from France. Jacques Monot (Denis Podalydes) is spending a few weeks of the summer at the seaside with his wife, Albertine (Guilaine Londez), and their four children. However, the resort community where they've landed is not proving to be very entertaining, and Jacques is looking for a way to make their stay more exciting. An encounter with a persuasive (if less than scrupulous) salesman leads to Jacques purchasing a rattletrap sailboat, and despite the fact that he's never handled a sailboat in his life, Jacques decides to take his new craft out for a spin on the ocean with chaotic results. Liberte-Oleron was directed by Bruno Podalydes, the brother of leading man Denis Podalydes; the siblings also collaborated on the film's screenplay.

Only God Sees Me (1998)

Albert, a sound engineer, leads an almost normal and pleasant existence, except that he is always chronically hesitant. Giving someone directions in the street, going out for dinner, choosing a girlfriend... all become a source of desperate and endless questioning, and considerably complicate his relationships with other people. As soon as he develops deep feelings for someone, he is instantaneously ill. It is a hard choice between three successively charming young women: Sophie the nurse, Corinne the detective and Anna, a disturbing and mysterious film director. When he has dinner with Anna, he is sick half of the evening ...

Freedom-Oléron

While vacationing on Oléron Island, Jacques, 38, father of four young boys, gets fed up with beach life. He invests all his savings in the purchase of a yacht 'a glorified dinghy' that he renames 'Freedom-Oléron'. He then hatches a plan to sail over to neighboring Aix Island, 5 kilometers away. Although an incompetent sailor, Jacques tells his family that, after God, he is the only captain on board.

Only God Sees Me

Albert is a thirty-year-old sound engineer. All his life he's been able to avoid confrontation through passive observation until he is forced into action by three very assertive women.
