Synopsis:
The documentary Echnaton & Nefertiti is a production originally been commissioned by the German ZDF. The documentary deals with the Egyptian pharaoh Echnaton (in this documentary Akhanaten continuously mentioned in the subtitles) and his wife Nefertiti (which means something like 'The beautiful woman has come "). This documentary consists of the following 3 parts:

The Sun as Sole Witness
This section is in fact the release. This chapter deals with Echnaton and his place among the other pharaohs. It also dealt with the fact that the Echnaton introduced monotheism, which means that there is only one god (the sun god Aten) was to believe. This was quite revolutionary since the Egyptians previously offered multiple gods and this also had far-reaching consequences for the country and the further course of the history of ancient Egypt. Here there is at the new capital he had built, Amarna and is told how his life went global.

The Curse of Amarna
This episode looks back briefly at the first and will continue with new information. It explains who exactly was Nefertiti. Both the origin of Nefertiti as the cause or reason for her disappearance have given rise to much speculation among Egyptologen. Since they are not the only one in that period disappears, there is a theory that assumes that there is an epidemic which was also under the royal family claimed many victims. According to another theory, this meant not yet the end of Nefertiti. This theory assumes that she survived her husband, hertrouwde with a prince from a neighbouring country and take some time reigned over Egypt. Furthermore, even the famous bust of Nefertiti and a letter addressed on a stone tablet which claimed that they had written him. Both these relics are found in the Egyptian Museum in Berlin.

The Mummies of the Kettering
This slotstuk in the Echnaton & Nefertiti series looks back at first glance the previous episodes. They are the mummies of Echnaton and Nefertiti actually more central or the lack thereof. There are mummies in the past have found that one of the two might be, but the evidence for it just as numerous as the evidence against it. This only feeds the myth about these two strange figures who have been so important for the history of ancient Egypt.
