Synopsis:

PIANO, SOLO is based on the heartrending true story of the life of Italian jazz pianist Luca Flores. A tragic destiny awaits Luca on a road in Africa when, at a young age, he sees his mother die in a car accident. Luca returns to Italy where his exceptional and precocious talent as a pianist soon become evident. But the inspired rhythms of his boyhood Africa, and a prompt by a couple of soon-to-be friends turn him from a conventional classical career into a new jazz star, an acclaimed figure on the Italian and international jazz scenes, appearing with legendary greats such as Chet Baker and Dave Holland. Yet the unbearable feeling of guilt for his mother's death grows into an obsession and each day, as he withdraws further into isolation, not even his music has the power to redeem him.

The film tells the story of Luca Flores, a brilliant Italian musician who is in love with jazz. The film does not just show his artistic side, also delving into his loves, anxieties, existential doubts and, finally, madness.
