Synopsis:
The real story takes of Bruneri/Canella case (Italy 1926). A man is hospitalized in a neurological clinic suffering from amnesia. Mrs Ballerini, after had seen his picture complains he is her husband and brings him her home. They start living a regular life, even if the man still couldn't remember his past. When also Mrs Polacich recognizes him as her husband a process is set up. Italian audience is literally shared in two parties supporting one or the other family. Mrs. Ballerini will succeed anyway to come back together with her presumed husband and escape with him to Brazil. Years later also the Vatican will recognize their two children as 'legally conceived' under catholic laws.
