Synopsis:

Dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship story over three generations. Rita, who was neglected as a child and, as a protection from being hurt, has grown up to have little maternal feeling or responsibility herself. She foists her children on her own mother Isabella, forcing her into a maternal role. However, Rita is sowing the seeds of resentment and similar reactions towards herself from eldest daughter Fanny.

Rita gives birth to her own six children and forces her mother to take the role of a mother for her grandchildren. A portrait of a woman who claims that her mother was never a mother for her.
