Synopsis:
Mrs. Cragg and her neighbours in Pitt Street are cleaners in big City office blocks. Mrs Cragg also 'does' for Colonel Whitforth, an impecunious gambler. Early one morning she is under the desk when James Ryder arrives and discusses a potential take-over. She salvages a cigar for the Colonel, wrapping it in Ryder's discarded telegram. He uses both to advantage and shares the profits with her. A speculating company, Ladezudu, is formed with Whitforth as the expert and the ladies providing the information from their offices. Finally they invest their capital in irish pigs but swine fever eliminates both their capital. Meanwhile Ryder is negotiating the redevelopment of Pitt Street, his own home ground, with a time limit for demolition to start. The ladies and their friends gang up, confounding the contractors and the police. Whitforth arrives with heartening news of their fortunes. Ladezudu invite Ryder to join the board and share their redevelopment scheme.

The 'Ladies Who Do' are office cleaners. One of them discovers some hot stock tips and they make a fortune. They then make good use of it to save their old neighbourhoods from the wicked developer.
