Synopsis:

The System is a "Swinging London" comedy with an unsettling undercurrent of bitterness and cynicism. Oliver Reed plays a girlie-magazine photographer, the self-appointed leader of a group of handsome but unscrupulous bachelors who hang out in a British seaside resort. Their avowed goal is to seduce and abandon as many wealthy young girls as possible. One of the group, jealous of Reed's success, uses their "system" to hoist the leader on his own petard. Michael Winner solidified his reputation as a "mod" director in The System--and also displayed his utter contempt for the pretty young people he depicts. The film was released to the US under the more bankable title The Girl Getters.

During the summer season at Roxham a gang of young men led by Tinker have perfected a system for collecting any pretty arrivals and sharing them on rota. Tinker spots Nicola, rich, elegant who plays him at his own game. For the first time he falls in love. The summer sees the break-up of the gang. Nidge marries his pregnant girl-friend and Suzy, an old flame of Tinker's is herself abandoned by Nicola's father. The holiday makers leave, including Nicola, for whom Tinker was only a passing distraction.

A posse of young, upperclass London lads create havoc at a busy British seaside resort -- swindling tourists, picking fights and scoring with as many girls as possible. However, the tide begins to turn when the group's ringleader falls in love with one of his one-night stands.
