Anatomie d'un rapport / Anatomy of a Relationship:
Director Luc Moullet plays a movie director who is having a hard time making ends meet and is also having a hard time satisfying his wife. In the film, they fight and talk, make up, talk and fight.

Brigitte et Brigitte / Brigitte and Brigitte:
Once upon a time, in this late example of the French New Wave Style by first-time director Luc Moullet, there were two girls named Brigitte who came from the provinces to go to school in Paris. There, they became friends, lost their countrified accents, became incredibly sophisticated, and lost their virginity pleasantly. As their story is told, French neo-Puritanism, the school system and many more cultural institutions come under fire. The girls' story unfolds in a free-wheeling way which may leave some loose ends lying about, but all-in-all, this art-house feature opened to a favorable (if modest) welcome by the critics.

Les Contrebandières / The Smugglers:

Une aventure de Billy le Kid / A Girl Is a Gun:
Billy the Kid (Jean-Pierre Leaud), is both ruthless and bumbling in this impressionistic French-made western. Ruthless, in that he tracks down a witness to a robbery and kills him in cold blood. Bumbling, in that he literally stumbles over things throughout the film. He is also lucky, one might add, as instead of exacting revenge as she had planned, the bereaved girlfriend of a man he has shot walks off into the fabled sunset with Billy.

Genèse d'un repas / Origins of a Meal:
In this documentary, Luc Moulet investigates the sources for the foods he is eating at the outset of the film: tuna and bananas. When he investigates the French labels on his tuna, he discovers that the fish were actually caught in Senegal, and his bananas came from Ecuador. The people who caught the fish and the growers of the bananas are interviewed, and their economic hardships are clearly underscored.

Parpaillon / Up and Down: A bicycle race is held every year in a pass of the Alps called Parpaillon. With the energy of a skillful cyclist perhaps as a great tribute to François, the mailman played by Tati in The Big Day, Moullet makes a comedy by pedaling at a pace that allows him to reinvent the possibilities of film gags. La Cabale des oursins is a guided tour to the northern France, transformed into a Geography lesson in the pataphysical style of an Alfred Jarry disciple.
