Synopsis:
The Well is a film about Orson Welles. It's not a biographical film about his careers in film and theatre, it's about his relationship to Spain. Despite the great mass of biographies that have been written about him, this side of his personality has remained unseen even though Welles spent almost five years of his life in the country. Welles is also buried in Rhonda, Andalusia, in a well in the back yard of the legendary matador Antonio Ordonez finca. The choice of the burial site says loads. But it is interesting to note that very little, if anything, has been said about Orson Welles' choice for grave. Or was it his choice? The Well will be a road movie, of sorts, through Spain on the hunt for the mystery of the well.

Orson Welles' spanish years: "Don Quijote"'s filmmaking, Andalusia and the encounter with the legendary torero Antonio Ordonez Finca.

An examination of Orson Welles' relationship with Spain and bullfighting, both of which he was very partial to during his life.
