Synopsis:
The Hairdresser's Husband (1990): At the age of 12, Antoine's life is dominated by twin passions, dancing to Arabic music and getting his hair cut by the voluptuous, middle-aged local hairdresser, who inadvertently provides him with his first experience of the opposite sex.

Antoine reaches middle age with his passion undiminished: upon meeting shy hairdresser Mathilde, he is so taken by her that he proposes marriage. She accepts and he moves into her salon where they pursue their romance with an intensity that blinds them to the mundane realities of the outside world.

Le Parfum D'Yvonne (1994): A man remembers an idyllic summer in 1958, spent on the shores of Lake Geneva in avoiding participation in the Algerian conflict, during which he encountered the beguiling Yvonne and her friend Dr. Meinthe. On their first encounter he was drawn to her and they seemed destined to be together, however the sun filled days of social gatherings and passionate assignations would be all too fleeting.

Monsieur Hire (1989): Adapted from the George Simenon novel 'Les Fiancailles De M. Hire' it tells the story of old Monsieur Hire who lives a lonely existence in an apartment block. He spies on a woman called Alice who also lives there and he knows everything about her, until one evening he sees something he shouldn't and his life changes for ever.

Ridicule (1996): A poor nobleman has a plan to rid his homeland of its disease infested swamp. To do this he needs backing and so heads to the court of King Louis XV1 in a bid to solicit aid. He soon discovers that the worthiness of the plan itself will not grant him an audience with the King, at Versailles the sharpnesss of ones wit is what gets you noticed. Those found lacking in the art of wordmanship are maliciously despatched.

Tango (1993): Vincent, a stunt pilot, is acquitted of murdering his wife and her lover. However, a few years later, the judge in the case comes to blackmail him. The judge's nephew is having trouble with his wife and they demand that Vincent kill her. The judge, a confirmed bachelor, takes Paul and Vincent on the road to search for Paul's wife Marie...
