Synopsis:

Centers on a competition which requires entrants to place a hand on a new Land Rover Discovery and keep it there. The winner of the car will be the person who keeps their hand continuously on it the longest. Tom is a single, obstinate, but charismatic bankrupt. He's a lovable rogue and so brutally blunt to everybody that it's funny. He seems willing to do anything to win. He's addicted to competition. Jess is a solo mother and a park warden, and is at first only interested in winning the car only to help her invalided child. She's nice as pie but feels she isn't going to go very far. Not, at least, until her motives for winning unexpectedly change after Tom rubs her up the wrong way.

An hilarious comedy about a gruelling endurance contest to win a car - whoever keeps their hand on it the longest wins. Based on his own upcoming and internationally pre-sold novel, Show of Hands is adapted and helmed by Anthony McCarten (Via Satellite and The English Harem) and will be shot by Lord Of The Rings assistant-lenser, John Cavill, with a cast lead by Melanie Lynskey. Up-and-commer Craig Hall will co-star. Lynskey will play Jess, a beleaguered metre maid who is impossibly nice and careful, and who is drawn - for reasons she can't understand - to fellow contestant Tom, (Hall) a failed businessman, who is outrageously self-serving and irreverent. In the end, both have something vital to learn from each other if they are to survive in the ultimate Show of Hands contest - life itself.
