Synopsis:
A young man makes his way into a troubled world after years in a strange isolation in this fusion of drama and fantasy from filmmaker Marcelo Schapces. Twenty-something Olmo (Nicolas Mateo) has spent most of his life virtually imprisoned by his father (Luis Luque), a deeply disturbed man who collects rubbish and cast-off, describing them as "artifacts." Olmo has become his father's unpaid assistant, helping him catalog and categorize his massive store of junk while his dad keeps him away from the political chaos and social upheaval that is turning Buenos Aires upside down. One day, while sorting out his father's belongings, Olmo comes across a postcard that says his mother is in Galicia in Northwestern Spain -- a shocking notion to Olmo, since his father has always told him his mother is dead. Leaving his father's collection in a shambles, Olmo leaves the safety of the house and happens upon a party where he meets Carmen (Marta Larralde), a young woman from Galicia. Olmo is certain fate has brought them together, and he persuades Carmen to join him as he travels to Spain in search of his long-lost mother. La Velocidad Funda El Olvido (aka Velocity Begets Oblivion) received its North American premiere at the 2007 Palm Springs Film Festival.

This unusual political and dream-like road movie features Olmo, a young Argentinian looking for his mother while nagged by the ghost of his father. Olmo, a disturbed soul, learned a lot on how to resist a now defunct dictatorship, but missed out the joys of real life.

A young Argentinian hs nagged by the ghost of his father while on a quest to find his mother.
