Synopsis:
Based on the popular 1950 novel written by Australian writer and communist Frank Hardy, Story follows the life of Melbourne business man John Wren, from the 1890s when he was an impoverished youth during The Depression through to his ascent into power, wealth and influence until his death in 1950. Wren was a right-wing power broker in the Australian Labor Party and allegedly involved in criminal activities related to gambling and political machinations.Multi-award winning, Power Without Glory is generally considered one of the finest drama series ever produced in Australia and certainly by the ABC.
