Season 1, Episode 2: Jackpot

Following a tip-off Regan and his men foil an attempted robbery, catching the crooks and re-gaining all of the loot, with the exception of one bag, containing thirty-five thousand pounds. Detective Chief Superintendent Maynon suspects that one of the cops may have pocketed it and leans on Regan to find out the truth... which he does thanks to photographic evidence.
Season 1, Episode 3: Thin Ice
Original Air Date-16 January 1975
When villain Gerald Bishop skips the country to hide in France, he leaves behind his dog Archimedes. However, associates of Bishop spirit it away and it is a race to see who can locate the dog first.
Season 1, Episode 4: Queen's Pawn
Original Air Date-23 January 1975
Flash criminal Johnny Lyons and his two associates Budd and Clarke are acquitted on four charges of robbery, thanks to Lyons' smooth-talking brief. Recalling that Lyons once maimed a good friend of Regan's, Maynon puts Regan on the case, giving him carte blanche to reel Lyons in. Regan uses his chess expertise to sow the seeds of doubt between Clarke and Budd in order to get Lyons, and that includes a little kidnapping.
Season 1, Episode 5: Jigsaw
Original Air Date-30 January 1975
Regan is well aware that Eddie Boyse took part in a robbery - the only problem from Regan's point of view is that Boyse had a cast iron alibi. Being Regan he is tenaciously on Boyse's case and even when Boyse gets his Member of Parliament to accuse him of harassment, he still keeps going.
Season 1, Episode 6: Night Out
Original Air Date-6 February 1975
Superintendent Grant is aware that a gang of villains about to pull a bank job are using a radio transmitter to contact their boss, and it is housed in the pub next door to the bank. Season 1, Episode 8: Cover Story
Original Air Date-20 February 1975
Unimpressed by the writings of crime journalist Sandy Williams, Regan assumes that it is a man and is pleasantly surprised when Sandy turns out to be an attractive and intelligent young woman. Original Air Date-27 February 1975
Regan and Carter are after Max Deller, who has stolen a consignment of gold and needs to get it out of the country. During a high speed chase after the Prince gang Brian's driving causes the death of a gang member. The gang then kidnap Brian's wife in order to put pressure on him to drive for them but Regan is suspicious.

This will provide Regan with the opening that he needs to nick them.
Season 1, Episode 12: Contact Breaker
Original Air Date-20 March 1975
Whilst Danny Keever is on a weekend release from prison, a bank robbery takes place. It has the hallmarks of Danny's style and a witness statement also points the finger at him. Season 1, Episode 13: Abduction
Original Air Date-27 March 1975
A jewel robbery is to take place in Covent Garden and Regan gets wind of it. In order to delay him until they have committed the robbery the gang abducts Regan's young daughter Susie as a hostage. Although a separate investigation is mounted to retrieve Susie, Regan defies his wife and his superiors by getting his daughter back himself.

Rough, tough and politically incorrect in the way that only the best '70s drama series can be, The Sweeney is one of the major television successes of the last fifty years. Featuring John Thaw as the irascible Detective Inspector Regan and Dennis Waterman as his loyal 'oppo', Detective Sergeant Carter, this set presents the complete first series of this benchmark television drama.
