Synopsis:

On an island off the Irish coast, the body of local farmer IAN BELLOWS is found with all its bones missing. The local DOCTOR LANDERS calls in a leading pathologist, DR. STANLEY, who, in turn, consults a bone disease expert, DR. DAVID WEST. They decide to head for the island, using a helicopter belonging to the father of David's girlfriend, TONI MERRILL, who insists upon joining them.Once upon the island, they discover more bodies, gradually concluding that there might be a connection to DR. PHILIPS, a reclusive scientist who's trying to cure cancer, doing experiments on the island. When they visit his secluded lab, they find his body, along with those of colleagues, the bones removed in a similar way. They also find the strange creatures responsible, bizarre 'silicates.' Equipped with a hard shell and snake-like appendages, they are capable of sucking the bones out of living organisms. Further, they are multiplying geometrically, and will soon overrun the island...

Science fiction horror set on an island off the east coast of Ireland, where creatures developed by a scientist during the course of cancer research are on the loose and feeding on the bones of the local inhabitants.

A small island community is overrun with creeping, blobbish, tentacled monsters which liquefy and digest the bones from living creatures. The community struggles to fight back.
