Synopsis:
In this drama from first-time director Claudio Noce, Aman (Said Sabrie) is a Somali expatriate who is living in Italy and making a meager living working in a used car lot. Aman wants to move up in the world but he doesn't know how, and when he can't sleep at night (which is often), he drives through the back streets of Rome. One night, Aman's wanderings take him to an old apartment building, where he meets Teodoro (Valerio Mastandrea), a former boxer sinking into middle age. Teodoro doesn't care for immigrants and makes no secret of it to Aman, but despite his occasional racist outbursts the two become friends. However, Teodoro is tight-lipped about his past, and it takes some doing for Aman to find out the fighter's secret. Along the way, Aman also tries to start a romance with a woman (Anita Caprioli) who also has trouble making sense of life in Rome. Good Morning, Aman was an official selection at the 2009 ~Venice International Film Festival, where it was screened as part of the Critics Week program.
