Synopsis:
Edward Forester, a genetic researcher of considerable talent, becomes obsessed with creating a human/ape hybrid species. However, when he succeeds in his aim, he is ordered to destroy the result. Unable to kill the baby, he hides Gor, passing him off as his adopted son, whilst going to painstaking lengths to teach him to walk and talk. Eventually, under Forester's tutelage, Gor is able to blend into society and communicate as humans do. However, it's only a matter of time before the gorilla in Gor is brought out, with devastating results... First screened in 1988, this controversial drama was written by Ted Whitehead, based on Maureen Duffy's novel Gor Saga, and directed by Philip Saville.

Genetic scientist Edward Forester (Charles Dance) successfully breeds a human-gorilla hybrid baby called Gor. But he becomes emotionally attached to the child and is unable to destroy it. So he hides Gor, passing him off as his adopted son, whilst going to painstaking lengths to teach him to walk and talk. As Gor grows up, the practical, emotional and moral consequences of Edward's decision lead inexorably to tragedy. Based on the Maureen Duffy novel GOR SAGA.

Edward Forester is a genetic researcher, intent on breeding primate hybrids. But his experiments take a strange turn when he succeeds in breeding a human/gorilla hybrid. He hides the results of the experiment, adopting the child, and helps Gor to speak and blend into society. But Gor can't help being what he is, and tragedy and revelations are the ultimate result.
