Synopsis:
The day after the night of the full moon, 12 children all 10 years of age are found to be missing in the four language regions of Switzerland. The police and the media reassuringly claim that there are plenty of leads and clues. No kidnapper comes forward to contradict them. At the end of one week, all the parents receive the exact same letter from the children, written in cryptic language. By the next full moon they must have deciphered the letter and complied with all its requirements, or else... A dramatic-ironic tale that reveals the current state of Switzerland. Switzerland as a metaphor. Or: a plea for less logic and more imagination in our world.

Fredi M. Murer wrote and directed this Swiss drama about a family with a missing child. The only explanation seems to be kidnapping, but no ransom note arrives. Police inspector Anatol Wasser (Hanspeter Muller) soon faces an elaborate mystery: a dozen Swiss children vanish with no indication of any pattern - other than the fact that they all lived near lakes. Is organized crime responsible, or does the answer lie in mystical realms? Shown at the 1998 Montreal Film Festival.

A family discovers that one of their children is missing. It soon seems like kidnapping is the only possible explanation, but no ransom demand is received. Instead, there are disconcerting signs that the boy may have been somehow complicit in his own disappearance. Anatol Wasser, the policeman assigned to the case, soon finds himself investigating not one but a dozen child abductions. All over Switzerland kids are going missing, and supernatural explanations start to seem as plausible as rational ones.
