Synopsis:
The story of Australia's Messiah, his wife, his lover, and the man who would bring him down. The story of Australia's most loved Prime Minister as he faces his greatest challenge: a battle within his own party. As he fights for his life, we discover his incredible transformation from the hard-drinking, womanising but brilliant Trade Union President to a polished, egalitarian and visionary world leader. For a man who once sacrificed his family for his job, he must now rely solely on his friendships and allegiances to defeat his challenger and remain in power.

It was history for the ADHD generation, condensing 15 years of booze, women and politics into a mere 94 minutes*, but Channel Ten's Hawke telemovie was a hit, enticing an average 1.6 million viewers to finish as the fourth most-watched program of the night. Despite being too thin in the face and never mastering the Silver Bodgie's distinctive squawk, Richard Roxburgh's portrayal of Bob Hawke - president of the ACTU (Australian Council of Trade Unions) from 1969 to 1980, federal MP for Wills from 1980 to 1992 and Labor Prime Minister from 1983 to 1991 - had been widely praised by critics.
