Synopsis:
This UK-German drama has a completely Indian cast and setting. Successful classical Indian singer Pallavi (Kaushalya Gidwani) has been coached in the Hindi musical traditions by her mother, singer Kalruna Devi (Kapila Vatsyayan). When Kalruna dies, Pallavi suffers a trauma that results in the loss of her voice. In quick succession, she then loses her career, her students, and her husband (Bhaveen Gosain). On the brink of madness, Pallavi learns to sing again by imitating a voice channeled through a child. Shown at the 1997 Venice Film Festival, this film's English title is Dance of the Wind.

Pallavi, a young Indian musician, studies classical music with her mother. Her mother dies and the young girl loses her voice. The only way she can keep on singing is by meeting up with her mother's teacher, an old indiscernible and mystical man. With the help of this wise man and thanks to her own determination, she will learn the real spiritual dimension of music, a sacred oral tradition; she will discover the mysteries of silence and will revive her lost voice.

Pallavi is a successful classical singer who is preparing to be separated from her aged mother and teacher, the legendary singer Karuna Devi. The trauma of Karuna's death causes Pallavi's voice to disappear resulting in the loss of her professional life, her husband, and her students. Ultimately, Pallavi learns to sing again when she meets her mother's guru, Munir Baba, and practices intonation with Munir's young student, Tara.
