Synopsis:
From visionary graphic artist and director Joann Sfar comes a completely original take on one of the world's greatest mavericks, the illustrious and infamous Serge Gainsbourg.Gainsbourg is an enchanting glimpse at the life of a musical icon, his early years growing up as a Jewish boy in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, his wildly successful songwriting years and of course his now legendary romances with some of the era's most famous women: Brigitte Bardot, Juliette Greco and Jane Birkin.

Gainsbourg's life, from the young Lucien Ginsburg in 1940s occupied Paris, to the poet, composer and world-famous singer. The film explores his artistic career, from the young man passionate about painting to the recognition of his music whose avant-garde status made him a true icon of French culture. The film also looks at his complex adult life, through his stormy love affairs.

From growing up in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris through to his successful song-writing years in 1960s and his profile relationships with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, here, we get a glimpse of the life of sultry French crooner Serge Gainsbourg.
