Synopsis:
Iconoclastic filmmaker Alex Cox offers a unique look at California consumer culture in the midst of the post-millennium financial meltdown in this surreal comedy. Pixxi De La Chasse (Jaclyn Jonet) is a self-centered daughter of privilege who spends her days getting into one scrape after another and letting her wealthy family bail her out. But after too many parking tickets and auto accidents (and no inclination towards working for a living), her dad cuts off her financial lifeline, and in time her car is repossessed. While trying to get it back, Pixxi meets two professional repo men, Arizona Gray (Miguel Sandoval) and Aguas (Robert Beltran), and they think she has what it takes to do well in the repo trade. Soon the former rich girl is making good money taking back property from poor and middle-class folks who've fallen through the financial safety net, and Pixxi is able to indulge her passion for an entourage of hangers-on, including a full-time hair stylist. But Pixxi gets in over her head when she tries to reclaim a boxcar wanted by federal authorities and ends up captured by a band of terrorists who demand that golfing be outlawed. Also starring Rosanna Arquette, Karen Black and Chloe Webb, Repo Chick was almost entirely shot using green screen technology, allowing Cox to create an over-the-top visual style without building elaborate sets.

The problems with 'Repo Chick," Alex Cox's extreme satire for the age of foreclosure, begin with Jaclyn Jonet's personality-free portrayal of its heroine, Pixxi De La Chasse, a mouthy Paris Hilton-like celebutante who is disinherited by her wealthy family. To earn a living, Pixxi becomes a repossessor who hunts and terrorizes 'main-line mortgage abusers." Her ultimate assignment, however, is to collect a million-dollar bounty for some antique railroad cars. All the while, she is being filmed by her punk posse for a reality show to appear on closed-circuit television in a Dubai hotel. Pixxi eventually finds herself imprisoned while aboard those elusive railroad cars during a fake publicity junket organized by eco-terrorists who threaten to blow up Los Angeles with missing Soviet growler bombs (stored in the caboose) from the Communist era. The city will be spared only if the president criminalizes golf and the government turns vegan. By this time, 'Repo Chick" has deteriorated from a clotted comic mess into a leaden thriller spoof. The movie's title is its only real connection with Mr. Cox's 1984 cult favorite, 'Repo Man," to which it is definitely not a sequel.

Spoiled rich girl Pixie De La Chasse has been disinherited by her family due to her numerous driving offences, her failure to get a job and her overall lack of responsibility. When her car gets repossessed, Pixie ends up getting hired by repo men Arizona Gray and Aguas and soon becomes the best repo chick around with the help of her entourage: punk grrrl confidante, model looks bodyguard and flaming stylist. While on the hunt for some antique railroad cars (which carry a million dollar bounty reward but are also being sought by a secret government agency!), clueless Pixie ends up on a wacky train ride which is actually a plot by a terrorist organization. If their demands for the criminalization of golf are not met, then the train (which is carrying long missing growler bombs from the Soviet Communist era!) is headed straight for downtown Los Angeles. Its up to Pixie De La Chasse to save LA!
