Synopsis:

Contest of Death (Ayakashi Ninp?ch?) The final story of the whole series. Set in 1790, it tells of Kong?'s attempts to have Shintar? assassinated by ninja of different schools, until they eventually turn on him. It ended with him and Shintar? leaving together in a boat into the centre of a lake for a deciding final duel, Kong? rowing, while Tonbei, Sh?saku and Oboro (Kotar?/Kong?'s sister from the Fuma Ninja stories) remained behind on the shore.

The final story in the original series of The Samurai sees Shintaro confronted with unlikely enemies and cunning ninja from across Japan, disguised in order to take advantage of Shintaros noble kindness. As he attempts to rescue the sister of one of his students, Shintaro once again falls into the path of Kongo. Originally airing on Australian TV in 1965, the final scenes in CONTEST OF DEATH remain some of the most memorable moments in the Samurai saga and will leave fans reeling!
