Synopsis:

Trust.Wohltat (2007)
Germany in the year 2020. The state's social security system has been shut down and is now solely managed by private enterprises. The most successful of them all is TRUST.Wohltat - one of the largest insurance companies. Their clients are wealthy customers, who sign up for a pension scheme by purchasing a 'genetically unpolluted' human being - a so called Talent. That Talent works at TRUST.Wohltat as a long-term investment while the individual himself enjoys a first-rate education. 28-year-old Luca is such a Talent. Studying medicine at TRUST.Wohltat he is working towards a magnificent career. His owners, the rich couple Brecht, order a child, bred from Luca's genetic material. As the surrogate mother they chose Hannah, a genetically clean young woman from the other side of society. But things change dramatically when Luca is confronted with the news that his DNA is flawed and the baby bred from his genes will be born disabled or dead. For the first time Luca questions his existence at TRUST.Wohltat. The baby is to be aborted but Hannah refuses to comply. Luca finds out that he is the donor and sets out to find the mother of his child...

Journalist Sandra Harkow is producing an Infomercial for the Biometric-Lobby. It is to be presented in front of important State and Business Representatives. The surprising encounter with a putative Timetraveler changes her perspective. She begins to dig deeper, and brings to light astonishing and frightening facts about the State Security Policys. Suddenly there is plenty at stake; lots of money, our safety, and last but not least our future. "On the Safe Side?" is a feature film with documentary elements.
