Synopsis:

Though it's been a year since her death, Ed (Steve Buscemi) is still pining over his deceased mother (Miriam Margolyes). Enter a firm called Happy People Ltd, which for a hefty fee will bring Ed's mom back to life. He ponies up the money, and miracle of miracles, mother returns. At first all is bliss. But eventually dead old mom begins acting very strangely. Her habit of eating bugs is only the tip of a bizarre iceberg. Can things get any weirder? They do, when Ed's "pal" Rob (John Gries), whom mother had sent to jail during her first life, comes calling. The supporting cast includes the likes of Ned Beatty, John Glover, and Rance Howard (Ron's dad).

Ed misses his mother who has been dead for a year. He has lived almost his whole life with his mother, so when a stranger appears one day from a company called 'Happy People Ltd.' and claims that they can bring his mother back for 1 000$, he doesn't think long before he agrees. But everything doesn't go as it should go. For a while everything is fine and Ed's mother bakes cakes and takes care of him, exactly as before. But then she starts to act more and more strangely. Pealing potatoes in the fridge, repainting the kitchen over night, chasing dogs for meals, jumping over fences and other things that ordinary old mothers usually don't do. And when Rob (who was sent to jail by Ed's mother) appears, things really start to get out of hand.

Poor Ed. He really loved his mother, and did his heart break when she passed away... But a traveling salesman told Ed that he had an inexpensive potion that could resurrect his mom. So Ed pushed aside his suspicions and decided to try it. Lo and behold, his mother came back to life. Now that she's alive again, however, there's something odd about her. She runs, she makes enormous pots of soup, she sleeps in the refrigerator. Time to discuss that maintenance contract with that salesman!
