Synopsis:

Local news reporter Chris Hawthorne (David Roper) and his wife, Fliss (Diane Keen), live a simple but contented life with their twin babies and few material possessions, punctuated by occasional visit from Fliss's mum, Connie, and their eccentric neighbour, Austin Tweedale. All that changes, however, when they take in lodger Gavin Rumsey (Lewis Collins): newly single Gavin has soon filled the house with expensive furniture, flashy gadgets and a succession of decorative young 'temps' - and Chris and Fliss are left feeling distinctly squeezed out... This release comprises all episodes of the first series of this hit Granada sitcom, originally screened in 1975.

Local news reporter Chris, and his wife Fliss live a simple life with few possessions, and twin babies. Their life changes when they take in Gavin as a lodger - his wife Carol has just left him. He brings with him lots of modern furniture, and a Scalextric set!

It's Chris's day off, but his and Fliss's plans are ruined when Gavin turns up from work ill. Dr MacKenzie is called and thinks there's not really that much wrong with him. Having had enough, Fliss goes to her mom's and leaves them to it.

Gavin gets a promotion. Chris wants to go down to Fleet Street for work, while Connie introduces Fliss to Tarot cards. Chris and Fliss go for a reading with Madame Stellaris, followed by a trip to London.

Gavin announces that Carol wants to sell their house. She asks Chris a favor - will he show some prospective buyers around. It goes alarmingly well, despite his best efforts. Then there's the Selling Up party.
