Synopsis:
Caracremada ("Burnface" in Catalan), a nickname given by the Spanish Civil Guard to Ramon Vila Capdevila, reflects about the libertarian resistance against Franco's regime through the last active guerrilla fighter. In 1951 the CNT ordered the retreat of its militants; however Ramon Vila remained in the woods of inland Catalonia where he restarted the fight operating on his own. The CNT planned to blow up the main power plant in Catalonia to hasten the demise of Franco, and was Caracremada with a group of supporters, who took charge of the mission. The film is both an interesting political reflection of a historical period but also an unusual experiment, an adventure with virtually no dialogue. The director Lluís Galter studied, among other places at FAMU, the Film Academy of Prague, where he shot several short films. Caracremada is his first feature premiered at the competitive section of the sample Horizons Venice last year.
