Synopsis:
At the Admiral Benbow inn in 18th Century England Jim Hawkins (Tom Nagel) has befriended the drunkard Billy Bones (Justin Jones). When Billy falls ill, apparently close to death, he confides in Jim a secret map that once belonged to Captain Flint, a fearsome pirate, who had hidden his loot on the fabled Skeleton Island. Billy dies, and the inn comes under attack from pirates seeking the map. Jim, taking the map, flees to safety, and makes his way to Bristol, whilst the pirates burn down the Admiral Benbow in the hope of finding the map. After gaining the help of Squire Trelawny and Dr. Livesey (played by Dean N. Arevalo and Jeff Denton respectively) whilst staying in Bristol, Jim decides to set out to find the treasure of Skeleton Island, and joins up with Captain Smollete (James Ferris), the captain of the schooner Hispaniola, to sail out to Skeleton Island. At the request of the captain, Hawkins is given menial duties to perform in the galley, overseen by the one-legged ship's cook, Long John Silver (Lance Henriksen), whom Jim befriends. As the Hispanola makes its way to the island, Hawkins unintentionally discovers Long John's true intentions: to steal the map and to hijack the Hispaniola on behalf of his own band of pirates, whom make up the ship's crew. Long John plans to stage a mutiny upon arriving at Skeleton Island, and to kill the captain, Hawkins and Dr. Livesey so that all of the treasure will belong to the pirates. Hawkins, along with the captain and Livesey, flee to the safety of the island, whilst Long John takes control of the Hispaniola on behalf of the pirates, who then land on Skeleton Island themselves to search for the small group and thus the treasure. Whilst hiding, Hawkins discovers Ben Gunn (Leigh Scott), who had been wrecked on the island sometime ago, and has been stranded for years. The meeting is cut short by the arrival of Long John, who sieges the plateau on which the group is hiding, and gives Hawkins an ultimatum: surrender the map or die. The fate of his friends, and of Captain Flint's treasure, rests on Hawkins's shoulders as the deadline draws nearer.

An innkeeper's life of monotony suddenly changes when he comes into possession of a treasure map. Enlisting the help of Long John Silver and his band of cutthroat pirates, he sets off in search of the cursed Skeleton Island.
