Synopsis:
Misafa Lesafa (From Language to Language) 2004: In it she talked to academics, writers and artists who, as is commonplace in a country with so many immigrants, had plenty to say about being bilingual and belonging to two cultures. Looks at the complex, intimate and passionate relationship the inhabitants of Israel have with their mother tongue.

Vaters Land (Loss / Perte) 2003: 'Vaters Land' is a play on words. It's the country of your fathers but it also alludes to Sigmund Freud's text, which mentions Vaterland, meaning fatherland. Mourning is the reaction to the loss of a beloved person or an abstract entity taking their place such as fatherland, freedom, an ideal. . .

Langue Sacrée, Langue Parlée (Sacred Language, Spoken Language) 2008: Analysed the ambivalence of Hebrew, a modern vernacular reconstructed on the basis of a language that had long been set aside for study of the scriptures. Nurit Aviv's film interviews a handful of Hebrew speakers, writers, and poets on their views of this revived language.

Traduire (Translate) 2011: Aviv talks to various Hebrew translators, modest titans labouring to open up new routes for a language that is historically, theologically and politically loaded.
