Synopsis:

For James Shelley, the spectre of permanent employment is looming, despite Maggie's cutbacks. He's determined to savour his last moments of freedom before submitting to the daily grind with his new job at the Foreign Office, and he intends to do it by 'keeping his head down' - much to wife Fran's annoyance. As he signs off, apparently for the last time, he finds that life has a few shocks in store for him... A long-running success for ITV - lasting for ten series over thirteen years - Shelley featured a masterful performance by Hywel Bennett as the bone-idle graduate-philosopher cast adrift on a sea of unemployment. This set contains the complete fourth series, originally screened in 1982.
