Synopsis:
DI Frost is an old-school no-nonsense copper who believes in traditional policing methods. Assisted by several officers including the ever-able DS Toolan, Frost uses what he knows about the street to find solutions to complex crimes as a member of the Denton CID. His home life is complex as he cares for his wife until her death and then leads a quiet bachelor's life, with only the occasional attempt at a relationship with another woman. His daily nemesis however is the Station's commander, Supt. Mullett, who is constantly worrying about budgets, staffing levels and crime statistics. He doesn't appreciate DI Frost's rough and ready manner, which doesn't stop him from trotting him out - with his George Cross, Britain's highest civilian honour for gallantry - when it suits him. Season 1 A Touch of Frost: Season 1: Episode 1 -- In 'Care and Protection' Frost investigates a missing child case, as his terminally ill wife languishes in bed. While searching for the missing girl, a chance digging turns up a 30 year-old skeleton chained to a strongbox. A former bank employee whose past links him to the strongbox is murdered and Frost must find his killer. Season 1, Episode 1: Care and Protection Original Air Date-6 December 1992 DI Jack Frost has to cope with the impending death of his wife as he investigates the disappearance of a young girl and a 30 year old cold case. A Touch of Frost: Season 1: Episode 2 -- 'Not with Kindness' features Frost grieving for his recently deceased wife and playing host to her intolerable sister from the States who comes to Denton for the funeral. Frost goes on the trail of a missing teenager. A victim of threatening phone calls, wakes in the middle of the night to find her home engulfed in flames by a suspicious fire that claims the life of her husband. Season 1, Episode 2: Not with Kindness Original Air Date-13 December 1992 Frost investigates churchyard vandalism, a missing paper girl, and a harassed woman as copes with his sister-in-law's visit after his wife's death. A Touch of Frost: Season 1: Episode 3 -- In 'Conclusions' an elderly man is killed in a hit-and-run that involves a prominent local official's son. A casino is robbed of the night's takings. An armed and dangerous fugitive takes a pair of hostages and Frost must decide whether to put himself in their place. Season 1, Episode 3: Conclusions Original Air Date-20 December 1992 Frost copes with an unhappy new partner as he investigates a casino robbery, a hit-an-run death, and a bank robber on the lam. Season 2 A Touch of Frost: Season 2: Episode 1 -- 'A Minority of One' - Frost and a black detective constable investigate residents at the Eastdean Estate housing project, where young, black men have been accused of a string of commercial burglaries. Frost feels responsible when an informant is murdered. The informant's child is kidnapped and Frost embarks on a one-man rescue mission. Season 2, Episode 1: A Minority of One Original Air Date-9 January 1994 While Frost is investigating a series of burglaries in a black area of Denton, one of his informants, a single mother, is murdered as Mullett worries about bad press. A Touch of Frost: Season 2: Episode 2 -- 'Widows and Orphans' - Frost is reluctant to investigate a rash of break-ins at the homes of elderly citizens due to lack of evidence until an elderly woman is found badly beaten. A new female partner dispenses free advice on Jack's love life and he asks Shirley Fisher to dinner. Season 2, Episode 2: Widows and Orphans Original Air Date-16 January 1994 Frost investigates two serial criminals preying on senior women, a burglar and a serial killer while working with a beautiful new partner. A Touch of Frost: Season 2: Episode 3 -- 'Nothing to Hide' - Frost gets a new partner whose attitude problem stems from a recent demotion. Is a drug addict's death accidental - or is it murder? Frost deals with personal issues involving an old flame. Season 2, Episode 3: Nothing to Hide Original Air Date-23 January 1994 Although DCI Frost is initially advised that a young addict found in a public toilet died by choking on his own vomit, he later learns that he was beaten to death. A Touch of Frost: Season 2: Episode 4 -- 'Stranger in the House' - A serial rapist is on the loose in Denton. A teenaged girl is missing and Frost fears she may be the next victim. The investigation becomes jeopardized when Frost finds a possible connection with the victim's father. Under pressure to remove himself from the case, he uses WPC Hazel Wallace to bait the rapist, placing her in grave danger. Season 2, Episode 4: Stranger in the House Original Air Date-30 January 1994 DI Frost has been making no progress in finding a serial rapist in the Denton area, so Mullet assigns WPC Wallace to him to broaden his perspective. Season 3 A Touch of Frost: Season 3: Episode 1 -- 'Appropriate Adults' - Concerns the mystery of a missing 8 year-old girl who was last seen by a young man with Down's Syndrome. Frost's superiors believe the young man is guilty, but Jack takes a different lead to find the girl's kidnappers. Season 3, Episode 1: Appropriate Adults Original Air Date-8 January 1995 When an 8 year old girl disappears near the local woods, foul play is suspected as circumstances point to a seemingly harmless 20 year old with Down's Syndrome. A Touch of Frost: Season 3: Episode 2 -- 'Quarry' - An animal rights group protests a foxhunt in Denton and one of the activists is found murdered. Detective Constable Clive Barnard, the chief constable's nephew, returns to help solve the case. Jack gets closer with Shirley Fisher. Season 3, Episode 2: Quarry Original Air Date-15 January 1995 Two animal rights activists are murdered following a protest of a fox hunt. A Touch of Frost: Season 3: Episode 3 -- 'Dead Male One' - The mystery of a murdered man in the river deepens when Frost discovers that the man's driver's license actually belongs to someone else. A star player on the local soccer team collapses during a press conference. Was he poisoned? Jack and Shirley Fisher take a big step in their relationship. Season 3, Episode 3: Dead Male One Original Air Date-22 January 1995 DCI Frost investigates a misidentified body floating in a river and the drug related death of a football prima donna who dies after a kick in the head. A Touch of Frost: Season 3: Episode 4 -- 'No Refuge' - Multiple burglaries in the same home lead Frost to a surprising arrest. Jack and a female detective sergeant are called to a local factory where a robbery and murder have been committed. The owner identifies a suspect but goes into hiding when his life is threatened. Season 3, Episode 4: No Refuge Original Air Date-22 January 1995 Although the three armed robbers who held up a glass factory are caught, there is no trace of the 15 thousand pounds they stole. Season 4 A Touch of Frost: Season 4: Episode 1 -- 'Paying the Price' - Rendered homeless by his own carelessness after burning his house down, Frost takes on a kidnapping case. A 24-hour operation at the victim's flat leads to escalating demands from the kidnapper and even Frost finds it difficult to keep cool under the pressure. Season 4, Episode 1: Paying the Price Original Air Date-7 January 1996 A ruthless kidnapper tests Frost's skills to the full - it proves a tough case to crack and, for one woman, time is running out. A Touch of Frost: Season 4: Episode 2 -- 'Unknown Soldiers' - Frost finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun when he interviews a suspected drug dealer. He also investigates the holdup of a security van by a gang wielding sawn-off shotguns. But, he's far more intrigued by the death of a young soldier at an army camp. It's strictly off limits to police, but that has never stopped him before. Season 4, Episode 2: Unknown Soldiers Original Air Date-14 January 1996 DC Frost has to deal with discovering the source of a handgun owned by a teenager, the culprits involved in an armored car heist, and a fatal accident on an army base. A Touch of Frost: Season 4: Episode 3 -- 'The Things We Do for Love' - The savage murder of a young physiotherapist sends Jack in pursuit of the names in her electronic organizer. The prime suspect is a pillar of the local church, but Frost's belief that he is the true killer is refuted by a water-tight alibi. Season 4, Episode 3: The Things We Do for Love Original Air Date-21 January 1996 When a beautiful therapist is found stabbed to death 18 times in a parking lot, Frost suspects one of her clients, a reformed alcoholic and family man. A Touch of Frost: Season 4: Episode 4 -- 'Fun Times for Swingers' - Frost gets a rude introduction into the world of male escorts when a naked woman throws herself from the roof of Denton Church. He discovers the photograph of a man with whom she had an affair, but the next day the man himself is found murdered. Season 4, Episode 4: Fun Times for Swingers Original Air Date-28 January 1996 Frost investigates the murder of a pizza waiter who doubled as a gigolo for middle-aged women and ongoing acts of vandalism at Mullett's cricket club. A Touch of Frost: Season 4: Episode 5 -- 'Deep Waters' - Frost is determined to make two suspects confess after a vicious knife attack, but an adversarial solicitor points out that justice must be done despite what Jack's instincts tell him. That aside, can he trust his hunch about a mysterious assailant at the local university... or not? Season 4, Episode 5: Deep Waters Original Air Date-4 February 1996 Frost is frustrated in his interrogations of two men that stabbed a young woman during a robbery and a predatory professor possibly involved in an assault on a pretty co-ed. Season 5 A Touch of Frost: Season 5: Episode 1 -- 'Penny for the Guy' - Two boys go missing and one of the youths is found murdered. When the owner of a large supermarket chain agrees to pay the kidnapped boy's ransom, the police get involved and the plot fails. Time is running out for the kidnapped boy and Frost is frustrated by the lack of evidence needed to make an arrest. Season 5, Episode 1: Penny for the Guy Original Air Date-9 February 1997 A manpower shortage and a rash of child kidnapped for ransom force a vacationing Frost back to work partnering with beautiful but ambitious DS Liz Maud. A Touch of Frost: Season 5: Episode 2 -- 'House Calls' - A face from the past may be responsible for a series of assaults on children. But, for once, sentimentality dictates Frost's actions. The result is a nightmare scenario that leaves Frost going to extraordinary lengths to vindicate himself, the investigation and his career. Season 5, Episode 2: House Calls Original Air Date-16 February 1997 Jack is in charge of the case of a three month old corpse found in the coal bin of an abandoned farm house. The body is eventually identified as that of a well known thief, but Jack has little to go on. DS Liz Maud has a case of a child abuser who is injecting children with water. Jack recalls a similar case and when they learn he is now in the area, have an immediate suspect. Jack feels sorry for him however and concludes that he can't be the person they're after. However, when two children are killed, both with indications of having injections, Jack may be in the soup. Supt. Mullett advises him that he will have no choice but to advise the Chief Constable and that it will likely lead to a disciplinary hearing. Fortunately for Jack, he sees a number of holes in Maud's case leading him to the the real killer. A Touch of Frost: Season 5: Episode 3 -- 'True Confessions' - A man's church confession provides insight into what may be a straightforward case of matrimonial murder. But, before Frost can arrest the killer, he is suspended due to the outcome of a related case from a decade ago. Season 5, Episode 3: True Confessions Original Air Date-23 February 1997 Returning from holiday, Frost investigates a drowning death in the river, but the autopsy reveals she was drowned in a bathtub. A Touch of Frost: Season 5: Episode 4 -- 'No Other Love' - All families have secrets, but perhaps none so shocking as that which Frost unearths when he investigates the brutal murder of Peter Lawson. To make matters worse, Frost finds himself without a partner when DC Barnard is killed. Season 5, Episode 4: No Other Love Original Air Date-2 March 1997 Peter Lawson is a pawnbroker with a difficult family life. His father, retired after a long career in the army, is a demanding patriarch and his oldest children hate him. An armed robbery at his shop brings DI Jack Frost, now reunited with DS Clive Barnard, onto the case but all does sit well with the police. When Lawson is murdered a few days later, Frost and Barnard uncover a case of child abuse that has gone on for years. The ensuing investigation leads to a tragedy that will long affect the police and Jack in particular. At the Station, Supt. Mullett is being forced to cut his budget and has his eyes squarely set on making Jack redundant. Season 6 A Touch of Frost: Season 6: Episode 1 -- 'Appendix Man' - Reeling from the loss of his former partner, D.C. Barnard, Frost resigns from the force. But, he soon returns to investigate the suspicious death of a reclusive art collector. Season 6, Episode 1: Appendix Man Original Air Date-7 March 1999 Hazel Wallace returns from her training as the new Detective Sergeant. Supt. Mullett assigns her to sorting the mess left behind by DI Frost while he was on extended compassionate leave. Wallace's first case is a man found hanged in his home. She suspects the death was not suicide. A set of fingerprints at the scene belong to an unidentified man discovered drowned a year previously. Frost is summoned by Supt Mullett to sort things. He connects a painting that appears to have been stolen from the hanged man with an art robbery and murder several years earlier. A Touch of Frost: Season 6: Episode 2 -- 'One Man's Meat' - To pay the bills, Frost takes in a renter with a dog. Next, while Frost investigates the death of a homeless teenager, the dismembered arm of a health officer, washes up on the shoreline on the other side of England. Season 6, Episode 2: One Man's Meat Original Air Date-14 March 1999 Frost takes in a boarder as he investigates the body of a dead teenage girl floating in the canal and a disembodied arm washed up on the shoreline. A Touch of Frost: Season 6: Episode 3 -- 'Private Lives' - A peaceful village isn't all it appears to be. Frost's new partner checks out a hit-and-run accident that injures an elderly woman. Frost squares an account with an old adversary. Season 6, Episode 3: Private Lives Original Air Date-21 March 1999 A woman is discovered in critical condition in a quiet village on the outskirts of Denton, the apparent victim of a hit-and-run incident. Frost's investigation exposes the secret life of a rural England corner. A Touch of Frost: Season 6: Episode 4 -- 'Keys ToThe Car' - A golf club paramour leaves behind a trail of satisfied golf widows, unpaid bar bills and stolen cars. When a drug dealer's body is found inside the trunk of one of the vehicles, Frost tries to find the connection between the gigolo, the drug dealer and the owner of the stolen car. Season 6, Episode 4: Keys to the Car Original Air Date-28 March 1999 Frost investigates a dapper con man with a taste for golf at posh clubs and other people's cars, especially after the body of a drug dealer is found in the trunk. Season 7 A Touch of Frost: Season 7: Episode 1 -- The holiday season holds little cheer for D.I. Jack Frost in this action-packed two parter. A local power station worker plunges to his death on the same day his home is vandalized. A crime squad detective is found murdered and the evidence points to police corruption. Frost takes the lead in the investigation and clashes with the dead detective's abrasive boss. Season 7, Episode 1: Line of Fire: Part 1 Original Air Date-25 December 1999 DI Frost investigates the murder of a policeman murdered during a sting of a ring of international; car thieves and someone murdering local pets. A Touch of Frost: Season 7: Episode 2 -- The holiday season holds little cheer for D.I. Jack Frost in this action-packed two parter. A local power station worker plunges to his death on the same day his home is vandalized. A crime squad detective is found murdered and the evidence points to police corruption.
