Coming Home introduces the glamorous and wealthy Carey-Lewis family and Judith Dunbar. Judith is at boarding school and her family is in Singapore at the outbreak of the Second World War. When she loses touch with her family the Carey-Lewis's welcom her into their home. This story is continued in Nancherrow when the family must struggle to come to terms with post-war Britain. Winter Solstice is an entrancing story of shattered lives and broken hearts. When Elfrida Phipps moves she soon befriends her new neighbours. Tragedy strikes and they all decamp to a house on a Scottish Estate. Set in the beautiful wild Highlands of Scotland the saga is continued in Summer Solstice. The Shell Seekers is the story of love, family life and an exquisite painting that has captivated millions and which tears a family apart.

Coming Home (1998)
Drama series about the Dunar and Carey-Lewis families, before during and after WW2.

Nancherrow (1999)
After the Colonel dies it is his irrepressible daughter, Loveday, who inherits the house and all of its problems. Bewitched by the magic of Nancherrow, Loveday fights to keep the estate going so that, in time, her young son Nat may inherit the house. While dealing with the reappearance of her one true love Gus and her failing marriage to Walter. Meanwhile Judith is finding life as the wife of the doctor difficult. It is a time of much change and heartfelt expectation for everyone at Nancherrow.

Winter Solstice (2003)
When Elfrida Philips abandons London for a country village, she settles in quickly. She is very poor, but has a tiny cottage, her four-legged friend Horace, and friendships of good neighbors. Tragedy upsets her newfound tranquillity, and she takes refuge in a rambling house with a new gentleman friend in Corrydale. But the group proves to be greater than the sum of its ill-fitting parts, and as the solstice passes, and as Christmas approaches, the healing power of love, begins to work its magic.

Summer Solstice (2005)
It is summer three years on and we return to wild Scottish Highlands and the residents of Cregean that we came to know and love in Rosamunde Pilcher's Winter Solstice. Former actress, Elfrida Phipps, has settled into a quiet life along side choir master Oscar Blundell and their dog Horace. Sam Howard, owner of the local paper, has found the peace and happiness he never knew was possible in the arms of the independent and beautiful Carrie. Lucinda, the countess, enjoys a new found lease of life away from the burden of the castle, her ancestral home recently transformed into a hotel. Vicar's son, Rory, and Carrie's sister, Lucy, enjoy the long warm days of summer, away from university, rekindling the spark they have always held for one and other. It is not long before unforeseen events conspire to upset this peace and tranquillity though - A libel case brought against the newspaper sends shockwaves through the local community and brings Sam into contact with the seductively intelligent authoress Alexia. Carrie, meanwhile, struggles with the smooth running of the newly formed hotel and how a not fully committed Sam will deal with her recently discovered 'condition'. Oscar, with help from the loving and supportive Elfrida, is forced to face the demons that have plagued him since the death of his daughter, Francesca, when a young boy, Brodie, finds his way into their lives. The seemingly unbreakable bond between Rory and Lucy is threatened, by the arrival of Todd, a young, mysterious and attractive backpacker. He holds a secret set to change the countess' life even more dramatically than the devilishly handsome gentleman staying at the castle hotel. Summer Solstice is a collection of love stories about, and for, people of all different ages and generations. Each character's tale connects, weaving in and out of the others, mirroring and countering them so that, as the long hot summer draws to its close, each is forced to examine their lives and decide to whom their loyalties lie or else risk loosing everything they hold so dear.

The Shell Seekers (2006)
Artist's daughter Penelope Keeling can look back on a full and varied life: a bohemian childhood in London and the wilds of Cornwall, an unhappy wartime marriage, and the one man she ever truly loved. She has brought up three very different children: Olivia, her 'special child', who like her mother is both tough and vulnerable; Noel, her ruthless and selfish son, and Nancy, the first born, embittered by greed and jealousy. It is a mild heart-attack that allows the sixty-four year old to take the time to reflect on her past life. Having discharged herself from hospital, the energetic and independent Penelope returns home to her ramshackle cottage in the English countryside. From here she travels to the Mediterranean paradise of Ibiza to stay with Olivia. Here she meets her daughter's lover, Cosmo, and his daughter, the young and beautiful Antonia, all the while reminiscing about her time during the war. The story unfolds like a jigsaw, switching between the 1940's and the present day. We learn of her marriage to Ambrose and the subsequent birth of the three so dissimilar children she has, over time, learned to accept for who they are. And of Richard, the dashing, romantic man she loved and was to marry but ultimately lost to the war. This story of lost love is mirrored in the present by that of Antonia, who comes to live with Penelope, and her love for the mysterious Danus. The secrets, passions and heartbreaks of Penelope's past threaten to be repeated by the young couple unless they can learn from her misfortune and be honest with one and other. It is the discovery that her most treasured possession, her father's painting, The Shell Seekers, is now worth a small fortune though that proves most alarming. For it is only then, as her 'loved ones' gather, that their true characters come to light and Penelope is forced to make the decisions that will determine whether they can continue to survive as a family, or be split apart. This is an adaptation of the work of Rosamunde Pilcher, based on the novel of the same name that has sold over 5 million copies world-wide and propelled her to the top of the international best-seller lists.

September (1996)
Adapted from a novel by Rosemunde Pilcher, the British miniseries September boasted a fairly impressive cast in a fairly impressive production. Jacqueline Bisset starred as Pandora, a worldly middle-aged woman who after many years at large returned to her hometown, a provincial Scottish village. No sooner had Pandora arrived than she lived up to her name by opening a veritable trunk full of uncomfortable memories - especially among those with whom she had been 'familiar' in the old days. A Portman production, September was offered in two 90-minute installments by Britain's Sky One satellite service in 1995.
