Synopsis:
There are few people whom one can say they have had or have assumed a heroic life, like it was the case of Miguel Núñez (1920-2008). The filmmaker Albert Solé revises the anti-Franco fight of this convinced communist and his ideal in order to obtain the social justice across a portrait of last years of his life, when he faced his last battle: a dignified death. Solé, who won the Goya for best documentary in 2009 with Bucarest, la memoria perdida, presents an allegation in favour of the Law of the Historical Memory and the right to choose on the death with Al final de la escapada. His last production explains Miguel Nuñez's history, who knows that his end approaches after the whole life chasing utopias, being opposed to Franco and to the Central American dictatorships. Nuñez spent 14 years of his life in Franco's prisons, where he was tortured and where he risked his life repeatedly to achieve their dreams of universal justice. Coherent, lucid and sarcastic until the end, Miguel also wanted to turn his death into an act of affirmation. After the 'Leganés case', he chose to die in Barcelona. Historical prominent figures as Marcos Ana, Evo Morales, Agustín Ibarrola, Pasqual Maragall and Ernesto Cardenal take part in this film on one of the heroes of childhood of the own Solé, 'an absolutely clandestinly' in the years of dictatorship with whom the parents of the filmmaker were leaving him when they were looking for a sure place in Barcelona.

Al final de la escapada is an intimate portrait of a dignified death of a worthy man, but is primarily a film about the life force of a whole generation who risked his life and now begins to fall into oblivion. 'Dignity death is a right that is acquired when one has lived with dignity', Miguel Nuñez.

Al final de la escapada by Albert Solé follows Miguel Nunez in his struggle to be allowed to die in dignity.
