Synopsis:
Hitler and Stalin: The Roots of Evil
They are responsible for 60 million deaths. They ruled their countries with an iron fist, crushing all opposition and turned their terror on their own people. Hitler and Stalin, The Roots of Evil explores the striking similarities between the two most brutal dictators of the 20th century.
Mussolini: Italy's Nightmare
Rare photos and films tell the whole story of Mussolini's life, from his days as a schoolyard bully to the alliance with Hitler that ultimately destroyed his country.
Churchill and the Cabinet War Rooms
In the darkest days of the blitzkrieg, while Nazi bombs night after night fell on London, Churchill met his supporters desperate to make a plan to stand against the German war machine. This happened in the Cabinet War Room, an underground headquarters that were so secret that only a few knew of its existence.
Roosevelt: The War Years
He was weak, fragile, could not walk, yet he led the U.S. to victory in the greatest conflict in history. Many of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's greatness stems from his remarkable leadership during WWII. Here is the incredible story of those turbulent years.

Hitler and Stalin: The Roots of Evil
They are responsible for some 60 million deaths. They ruled their countries with iron fists, squashing all dissent and directing government-sponsored programs of terror against their own citizens. Drawing on the latest findings and expert analysis from leading psychologists and historians, HITLER AND STALIN: ROOTS OF EVIL examines the 20th century's worst villains. The parallels are striking: both had abusive fathers and doting mothers, both were extremely insecure about their physical appearance and ashamed of their backgrounds, and both came to power at roughly the same time. From Hitler's 'Jewish nose' to Stalin's deformed foot, the Final Solution to the Gulags, this incisive special compares the backgrounds and policies of these two despots, interpreting the latest evidence and theories in the hopes of illuminating the personal, emotional and mental underpinnings of their actions.
Mussolini: Italy's Nightmare
The career and personal life of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. He quickly became one of Italy's most intelligent and menacing young Socialists. He broke with Italian Socialist Party after advocating intervention in World War I. In 1922, he became prime minister, and by 1925, he had established himself as dictator. His rule saw an official totalitarian system; the establishment of the Vatican state; the annexation of Abyssinia and Albania; and the formation of the Axis with Germany. His declaration of war on Britain and France was followed by a series of defeats in Africa and in the Balkans. Following the Allied invasion of Sicily, his supporters deserted him, and he was overthrown and arrested. Rescued from imprisonment by German paratroopers, he was placed in charge of the puppet Italian Social Republic, but in 1945 he was captured by the Italian Resistance and executed.
Churchill and the Cabinet War Rooms
In the darkest days of the London Blitz, as Nazi bombs ripped into his city night after night, a defiant Winston Churchill met with his aides to plan a desperate stand against the German war machine. The setting for these do-or-die meetings was the Cabinet War Rooms an underground headquarters so highly classified that few knew of its existence until years later. CHURCHILL AND THE CABINET WAR ROOMS goes inside this extraordinary command center, using rare archival footage from the Imperial War Museum and specially filmed re-creations. Follow secret workers as they construct the hidden headquarters deep beneath Great George Street and glance over Sir Winston's shoulder as he plans England's most critical war operations.
It begins with the election of Roosevelt for one, has never occurred before for the third term and goes along his conflicts with the isolationists in the U.S. and the attack on Pearl Harbor to the final victory of the Allies.
