Synopsis:
Martin Clunes (Goodbye Mr Chips, Men Behaving Badly) and Julie Graham (At Home with the Braithwaites) star in William and Mary, a romantic drama which follows the poignant and passionate tale of two lonely hearts that have found love and now are dealing with the realities of family life. In this Series William and Mary are now proud parents of 20 month old Thomas.
The drama follows William and Mary as they adjust to life with a new baby, and deal with the angst of troublesome teenagers. Meanwhile their diverse careers provide a whole new range of poignant and amusing moments in the course of hatching and dispatching.

The stair gate is broken and Mary makes a comment "Mind the future" as William climbs over with Thomas. William wonders if Mary wants another baby. Molly has lost her job and is suffering menopause because she has come off HRT. Rick is worried. The daughter of a vicar has died and William must deal with the vicar wanting to perform the service. Rick has to help William move the body. Mary has an issue with a consultant (Mr Spink) over a blind couple wanting to have a home birth. Brendan doesn't want to go to university.Its his 18th Birthday. Kate gets 3 interviews to Oxford. She brings Callum home. Molly finds out she has cancer.

Doris's new bloke Amon, starts making his obnoxious appearance. Terrence starts tagging someone else's turf. Molly continues treatment and enters competitions. William leaves the band but goes back. Reuben is hanging around again. William and Mary go to Oxford with Kate for the interviews but have to leave when Mary gets a call. W and M argue about privilege and Oxford.

There is a postal strike and Kate is waiting to find out about university. Mary is feeling a bit depressed and organises a dinner party with Doris and Eamon and Billie. William has to repatriate a body from Holland as Penelope (Nick's ex) has inherited his business and nominated William on the paperwork. Mary has to fight off the advances of the partner of her current home birth (Rosie). William has to fight off the advances of Penelope. Kate doesn't get into university. The repatriation goes awry. Penelope turns up at the dinner party whilst Eamon and Billie are fighting outside the house.

Terrence has gone and Mary is depressed and cross with William. Doris and Eamon are back together. Mrs Ball has gone to visit her father. A young boy inquires about having a funeral for someone who is missing at sea, his dad(Jim). Mary has a mother on life support who isn't married to the father. Social services may take the baby. Jane has trouble dealing with Arnold's relationship with Mrs Ball and goes to live with her sister. The police advise William that Terrence should stay away for at least 6 months. Molly is in hospital being treated. Mary goes to Brighton to see Terrence. Mary gets a call from Rick that Molly might be dying. Jim's mother won't accept he has died. She eventually attends his service. Mary finally realises she needs William.

Mrs Ball comes back and fills in for Jane in the office. Molly is due out of hospital. Williams funeral is a twin (which has some funny consequences later). The comatose mother (Jane) is sent to surgery for delivery of a baby boy. William and Mary have to look at houses to move to so that Terrence can come home but Mary can't. Molly wins 10,000 pounds in a competition. William is organising something with Terrence. Molly gets her cancer results. Jane comes back and finds Mrs Ball in her position. She storms off. William buys a house. Terrence is there when they go to look at it. Kate tries to make up with Callum. Mrs Ball(Betty) and Jane sort out their differences. Doris finally gets rid of Eamon. William and Mary decide that they don't want to get married and throw the ring out the window.

William Shawcross' (Martin Clunes) search for love is hampered by his work: not many women want to date an undertaker. He decides to take matters into his own hands and regsiters with a dating agency. Things start to look up when he is captivated by dark haried beauty Mary (Julie Graham) on one of the agency videos. Mary's an attractive, divorced mother of two; and working as a midwife, she only meets men who are expectant fathers and married doctors. Once the two get together, there is an obvious chemistry but the course of true love doesn't run smooth.
