Synopsis:
The Gold Cinema Collection celebrates the classic age of film by revisiting acclaimed motion pictures that were responsible for launching many of our finest veteran actors and crew in the industry. Reminisce your favourites from an era that is praised for its originality and excellence in cinema. Features Include:

This Sporting Life (1963)
When Frank Martin begins to enjoy the accolades of being a local rugby star his brutal nature distances him from those around him. Starring Richard Harris, Rachel Roberts, Alan Badel and William Hartnell.

Odd Man Out (1947)
Johnny, the idealist leader of an illegal organisation, has escaped from prison. He is forced to hide in the city and finds himself in the company of three shady characters. Starring James Mason, Robert Newton and Cyril Cusack.

Victim (1961)
The Police are chasing blackmail victim Jack Barrett, a wages clerk who has stolen a lot of money from his employer. Scared and on the run, he is trying desperately to get in touch with Melville Farr, a prosperous young barrister, but is apprehended by the police and commits suicide. Starring Dirk Bogarde and Sylvia Syms.

This Sporting Life (1963)
In Northern England in the early 1960s, Frank Machin is mean, tough and ambitious enough to become an immediate star in the rugby league team run by local employer Weaver. Machin lodges with Mrs Hammond, whose husband was killed in an accident at Weaver's, but his impulsive and angry nature stop him from being able to reach her as he would like. He becomes increasingly frustrated with his situation, and this is not helped by the more straightforward enticements of Mrs Weaver.

Odd Man Out (1947)
Johnny McQueen, leader of a clandestine Irish organization, has been hiding in the house of Kathleen and her mother, planning a hold-up that will provide his group with the funds needed to continue its activities. During the hold-up, things go sour: Johnny is wounded, cannot make it back to the hideout, and disappears in the back-alleys of Belfast. Immediately, a large-scale man-hunt is launched, and the city is tightly covered by the constabulary, whose chief is intent on capturing Johnny and the other members of the gang. Kathleen sets out in search of Johnny.

Victim (1961)
A plea for reform of England's anti-sodomy statutes, this film pits Melville Farr, a married lawyer, against a blackmailer who has photos of Farr and a young gay man (who is being blackmailed and later commits suicide)in Farr's car. After the suicide, Farr tracks down other gay men being extorted for money by the same blackmailer. The well-educated police Detective Inspector Harris considers the sodomy law nothing more than an aid to blackmailers, and helps Farr in calling his blackmailer's bluff. The movie, far ahead of its time, ends with Farr and his wife coming to terms with his homosexuality after the public exposure he faces in the blackmailer's trial.
