Synopsis:
Since 1927, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were one of the most popular comic film duo ever created. Both had previously had a successful solo career. They became a world famous duo: The bossy, fat and complacent Oliver Hardy and the naive, shy and thin Stan Laurel. They were both awkward and they showed the most simple situations in haywire. Between 1927 and 1950 together they made 105 short and long films. In this box set you will find a collection of their first works from the famous film 'Wizard of Oz' and the feature film 'Flying Deuces'.

The Flying Deuces (1939)
Oliver is heartbroken when he finds that Georgette, the inkeeper's daughter he's fallen in love with, is already married to dashing Foreign Legion officer Francois. To forget her, he joins the Legion, taking Stanley with him. Their bumbling eventually gets them charged with desertion and sentenced to a firing squad. They manage to escape in a stolen airplane, but crash after a wild ride.

The Wizard of Oz (1925)
A Toymaker tells a bizarre story about how the Land of Oz was ruled by Prince Kynd, but he was overthrown by Prime Minister Kruel. Dorothy learns from Aunt Em that fat, cruel Uncle Henry is not her uncle, and gives her a note due on her eighteenth birthday, which reveals she is actually Princess Dorothea of Oz, and is supposed to marry Prince Kynd. She, Uncle Henry , and two farmhands are swept to Oz by a tornado. Snowball, a black farmhand soon joins them after a lightning bolt chases him into the sky. They land in Oz, where the farmhands try to avoid capture. Semon becomes a scarecrow, Hardy briefly disguises himself as a Tin Woodman, and Snowball is given a Lion suit by the Wizard, which he uses to scare the Pumperdink guards.

The Lucky Dog (1921)
The first film in which Laurel and Hardy appeared together, but not as a comedy team.

Laurel and Hardy demonstrate different types of products made from wood.

The Stolen Jools (1931)
In a Los Angeles police station, it is reported that Norma Shearer's pearls have been stolen. A detective is sent to the actress' home to interrogate party guests, most of whom are famous Hollywood stars. The detective ends up chasing leads all over town, ending up at a movie studio, where he learns the truth behind 'the slippery pearls.

Hop to It Bellhop (1925)
Two nutty bellhops raise havoc at a posh hotel.

The Sawmill (1922)
A bumbling sawmill employee tries to win the hand of the owner's daughter while staying out of the clutches of the mill's bullying foreman.

Mud and Sand (1922)
Rhubarb Vaselino lives in a small village, when he and his friend, Sapo, enter a bullfighting contest, Sapo dies, but Rhubarb kills three bulls and becomes a local hero earning money. Two years later, he is living in Madrid as a national hero , when he becomes involved with Filet de Sol, and his lover finds out, he must fight the most deadliest in Spain, in the last bull fight of the season.

West of Hot Dog (1924)
On his way to collect inheritance in the small town on Hot Dog, Stan gets robbed by highwaymen, one of which is the other person who shall attend the reading of their late Uncle's will. The reading of the will states Stan will get everything, including 'The Last Chance Saloon', but in the case of Stan's death, the saloon will be split between Bad Mike and his friend. Stan nows flees town, but gets on Bad Mike's horse, which takes him to Bad Mike's house. Bad Mike and his gang arrive at the house, after robbing the saloon. They soon hear Stan, and an epic gun battle follows, with the town Sheriff not far behind.

Oranges and Lemons (1923)
After getting into a scuffle with his boss and some co-workers, an orange packer tries to help another co-worker, only to wind up in a conflict with him as well. Trying to elude his boss, he heads inside the packing house, and visits with the women who are packing fruit into cases. Then he heads to a storage area, and tries to use the machinery to escape his pursuers.

Bromo and Juliet (1926)
A young man puts on the play ''Romeo and Juliet'' as a fundraiser, but has to keep a close eye on his dad, who's had several drinks too many, and a pesky cab driver who's determined to collect his fare.

Crazy Like a Fox (1926)
Two rich capitalists want to marry their children, but they don't like the idea at all. She tries to run away, and meets him at the station. They fall in love, unbeknownst to their real identities, and decide each on their own that they have to wreck their parents plan. He asks his valet, to put a small postscript on his letter of introduction, stating that he's crazy and has sometimes (at least six times a day) crazy spells. To try this he uses an innocent victim, who promptly phones the insane asylum, that one of their patients is on the loose. At his future parents-in-law's home he acts crazy, till the moment he finds out, who the intended bride really is. Her completely shocked father asks the family doctor about how to behave with a lunatic and receives the advice to act crazy herself, follows it, and is promptly taken to the insane asylum.

Along Came Auntie (1926)
Vivien has divorced Vincent Belcher and married Remington Chow, but Vincent is still living under her roof as a boarder. To complicate matters, her Aunt, who doesn't know about the divorce, has come for a visit. Auntie is very much opposed to divorce. She is so opposed that if she finds out about it, she will leaver her fortune to a home for indigent dogs rather than to her niece. The deceptions that Vivien employs to keep her aunt in the dark brings many complications to an already-complicated situation.

Short Kilts (1924)
As a way to make peace between two feuding Scottish clans, one invites the other over for supper, but things don't turn out quite as expected.

Smithy (1924)
After being discharged from the 372nd infantry, on account of a bean shortage, smithy seeks employment. He finds employment at a construction site, where he helps to build a house, and soon causes havoc amoungst other workers. The constuction company owner leaves for a week, and tells his secretary to send a letter to Mr. Smith telling him to complete the construction of the house while he (the owner) is away. The letter is accidently sent to Smithy who manages to complete the house. When the owner returns the house is complete, and Smithy is commended until the last support beam is removed...

The Soilers (1923)
Bob Canister has struck it rich in Alaska, but another man learns of it, and steals Bob's claim with the help of a mercenary sheriff. Canister's men are ready to fight, but Bob backs down rather than resort to violence in front of his girlfriend. Later, though, he goes to the other man's home and confronts him, ready to fight for his claim.

Thundering Fleas (1926)
The kids from Our Gang have to attend a wedding, and they bring along their flea collection - which gets loose.

White Wings (1923)
Pursued by the law, a street cleaner finds refuge by impersonating a dentist.

The Hobo (1917)
A tramp who has been hiding underneath a railroad car wakes up while the train is stopped, and follows a pretty girl into the train station. When he flirts with her, the girl's boyfriend becomes angry and provokes a series of confrontations with the tramp. When things calm down, the tramp winds up working at the station's lunch counter, where he soon runs into some new predicaments.

Should Sailors Marry? (1925)
A Wrestler and his ex-Wife (Noah Young and Fay Holderness) try to con a recently-discharged Sailor (Clyde Cook) out of 4 years' pay. When they learn that he lost the money in a 'shell game', they put him to work in the hazardous job of a High Steel Worker, and insure him against accident, then try to see that he has one.

Hard Boiled Yeggs (1926)
A recent college graduate (Billy West) inherits a large sum of money, as well as a dive on the rough side of town. The will states that, in the event of Billy's death, two thugs get the money and the 'Cafe', and the thugs try, through various means, to see that Billy meets his demise. But Billy manages to thwart their efforts, with the help of a pretty young girl.

Laurel and Hardy join the Foreign Legion, and end up in a runaway aeroplane.
