Synopsis:

Lola (Christa Theret) is a pretty teenage girl living with her mother Anne (Sophie Marceau), who is divorced from Lola's father, Alain (Alexandre Astier). Nicknamed "LOL" by her friends, Lola has been taking her first steps into teenage romance, dating a boy from her class named Arthur (Felix Moati). Following the summer break, Lola's life becomes complicated when Arthur tells her that he cheated on her over the summer. Lola decides to break things off with him and start seeing his close friend Mael (Jeremy Kapone). Lola's friends seem to enjoy complicating matters even worse. Life at home has also become impossible with her mother, who has no idea what "LOL" means. She treats her teenage daughter like a child, wondering whatever happened to her sweet little daughter. A typical child of divorce, Lola likes to play her mother and father against each other for her own advantage, but what she doesn't know is that Anne and Alain have begun dating again on the sly.

Lol can't wait to see all her friends on the first day back in middle school. But after she breaks up with her boyfriend, Arthur, she is heartbroken and only Maël seems to understand her. The only problem is Maël just happens to be Arthur's best friend. In a world of Ipods and MSN, Lol and her friends are feeling their way through tenth grade, speaking a language peppered with text message shortcuts and dodging their often divorced and largely overwhelmed parents. Lol's mom, Anne, after an affair with her ex-husband, is being courted by a police detective. When she "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's journal, she realizes just how wide the communications gap has grown. In the end, Lol and Anne join forces in an effort to save Maël's musical dream.

The film is about a teenage girl whose life is split between her studies in a prestigious Parisian high school, her secret diary, her friends, boyfriends, her divorced parents, drugs, and sexuality.
