Synopsis:

The sparks fly and laughs follow when Rupert Everett and Madonna team up for this irresistibly funny and heartwarming movie, directed by John Schlesinger (Midnight Cowboy). Abbie (Madonna) and her friend Robert (Rupert Everett) would make the perfect couple - except for one small complication: he's gay. Well, at least they don't have to worry about sex messing up their relationship. Or do they? One night, loneliness gets the better of them, and before one can scream "reality check", Abbie and Robert become lovers and, ultimately, parents. A comedy-drama about best friends - one a straight woman, Abbie, the other a gay man, Robert - who decide to have a child together. Five years later, Abbie falls in love with a straight man and wants to move away with her and Robert's little boy Sam, and a nasty custody battle ensues.

Abbie, tired of failed relationships, has a one-night-stand with her gay friend; they agree to raise the resulting baby together.
