Synopsis:

Iwao Enokizu is a middle-aged man who has an unexplainable urge to commit insane and violent murders. Eventually he is chased by the police all over Japan, but somehow he always manages to escape. He meets a woman who runs a brothel. They love each other but how long can they be together?

Based on a true story, Vengeance is Mine follows serial killer and con artist Iwao Enokizu as he commits a string of murders during 78 days while traveling through Japan and eluding police. The movie's rambling narrative punctuates the senseless killings with flashbacks of Iwao's childhood as the son of devout Catholic innkeepers and his often-quotidian existence with the women he picks up along the way as an adult on the lam.
