Synopsis:

Hapless insurance salesman Vic Timms (Ian Robertson) stands naked outside a hotel, talking to God (Simon Callow) in a torrential downpour. He's been attending a sales conference alongside a pair of philosophical hit-men, a crooked undertaker, a homicidal con-man and a frigid estate agent named after the most famous whore in history. Acts of Godfrey is a tale of love, lust, loss and longing among an assortment of strangers who slowly discover that their lives; past, present and future are inextricably linked. Make a date with fate. Sex, suspense and surprises, all in rhyming couplets.

The story is based at a motivational sales course in a country hotel and the lead character, Vic Timms, is a salesman of unusual integrity and honesty. Johnny was brought up in a dogmatically Catholic home with a Life Insurance salesman for a father and the themes that run through 'Acts of Godfrey' are not coincidental.

Starring Simon Callow and written throughout in rhyming verse, 'Acts of Godfrey' is a unique and characteristically original debut from Johnny Daukes as a feature-film writer/director. The film premieres at London's Raindance Festival where it is nominated for Best British Feature.
